This one was tricky because one wrong move and he'd have looked like one of those dumbass manga bishies (a form of art I find cheap and ferociously boring). That's just the way he's built.
I think this looks a lot more like him than my last Bowie drawing, and when I showed it to my mom, who's always loved Bowie, the face she made told me I did a damn good job.
The revolver was just a device to man it up a little.
I dunno, maybe I'll ink and color this and then move the sketch to scraps. But this feels good for now.
My little sister bought me The Best of David Bowie 1974/1979 and I'm besotted.
Er, DA isn't the best place to be if you don't like manga, hun. But don't mind me...this is, of course, a lovely piece like all your art It's very clean and nicley shaded. Can't wait to see it colored

One day I am going to grow wings A chemical reaction Hysterical and useless.
Yeah, but none of the artists I watch draw manga, or at least not solely. I know it takes talent to do it well, it's just that, like... if you do it, you can only be as good as the genre itself, which is boring. Where's the room for self-expression when all your people look the same?
Thank you for the compliment, I hate to just mouth off all of a sudden. ;D
I'm not a particular Bowie fan, but this is amazing and really well done! It's really nicely composed, and I love his expression and the way you did his hair. All in all, awesome.

We lift our heads to where the stars are hiding, Part our jaws, and scream
and the so expected new Bowie art of yours pops in my front page illuminating this gloomy rainy day.
at first I thought it was a pic of Tommy Newton from the man who fell to earth I suppose because of the revolver; I don't know why I always think of the Thin White Duke wearing that cabaret like clothes
your pic is great specially the details around his eyes and lips...
tricky Bowie, he is beautifuly androgynous that he could eventually be confused with a bishy but he has talent and charm to backup his good looks. and those eyes!!!
I asked my husband why it looked so queer, and he sort of squinted and said, "it's in the eye/cheekbone area there". But that can't be helped, you know? That's such a trademark bit of him. So what, exactly, makes it NOT so queer looking? I couldn't tell you, but it works.
I've never seen The Man Who Fell To Earth, but I'd love to. Anything with a revolver centerpiece appeals to me.
