...and my wet blanket moment: Mercury poisoning suffered by many hatters in the 18th century and 19th century, when mercury was used in the manufacture of felt. Absorption of mercury through the skin can cause Korsakoff's syndrome. These hatters so afflicted were also known as mad hatters.
Hmm...When I was a kid I used to break open thermometers to play with the mercury all the time...but sadly it always disappeared into my hand eventually
And that's what it was that your art reminded me of...Art Nouveau...a saw a lot of it every day when i took french in high school...
