Sketch commission for :iconrurouni-jedi:, who asked for a long 6 3/8"x13" panel of a character from the novel A Song of Ice and Fire. She's just died and is holding a crushed rose in her hand. Her nickname is the Blue Rose, hence the color scheme.

The only color in the original is the petals, which I quite like, but I can't help myself but to snazz it up a little in PS.

I gotta tell you, I was pleasantly surprised at this piece!
the thumbnail didn't o it any justice, I love the outlined shading and soft colors
And her emotion is just so stunning!

This is so beautiful, I love the way the hair criss-crosses so perfectly, and the jewel thing on her forehead. Your lines are so purposeful and your shapes are lovely, I always wonder how you manage to draw your lines like that. Do you sketch the shape and then once you know where it's going you trace it a bit harder/darker? Do you draw very slowly?
