This is for -- her character Mae, who represents hope. She can manipulate these little fairies which give off light. She's involved in a societal war of some sort, but feels an allegiance to both sides, so is constantly warring with her loyalties and emotions.

She had wanted a marker-colored piece, but my markers were dry at the time. I just got in my new Dick Blick markers and finished it up straight away!

I had a hard time with this. Stephanie has commissioned dozens of incredible artists to draw Mae, and it's intimidating, trying to stack up next to them. That, and I wasn't keen on making her all sweetness and fairyland magical princess-like. I hadn't seen anyone else tackle her warrior side, and you know how I am about girls with weapons.

Mae is really intriguing, the way Stephanie explains her. Maybe I'm going through a phase where I dig heartbreak and struggle.
