Sarah's prize: the head of the beggar bird, which Jareth disguised himself as in the Labyrinth tunnels.

I loved that vulture-headed costume, and I love the idea of Sarah flaunting her victory with spoils, something that belonged to the King.

I hate working with dark colors and severe shadows, and I'm still not very good at it, so I thought I'd practice. Dark fabric is way less of a brainache than light. I don't even know if that makes sense, but oh, it's true.

I realized too late that the little skull pinned to the hat is a tiny humanlike skull and not a rodent's. Even creepier! A faerie skull? A tiny goblin?

It's only a costume, just rags and bones, but what's Jareth's is Jareth's. No doubt he'll make it a mission to get it back and teach her a little lesson...

Daily DeviationLabyrinth: the trophy by *lily-fox: This is a deviant who has been suggested to me by both yodeladyhoo & IRIA-L-unpardonable, and it took me quite a long time to give her a DD because I really had a hard time settling on just one piece. I've finally given in and selected this Labyrinth piece, it is remarkably well-rendered in traditional media and is incredibly passionate, but boy do I urge you to check out the rest of the gallery. There are so many gems that you will understand why it took me so long to choose one! (Featured by ^ArtisticAunJuli)

lovely, your darker colours are still so mesmerizing

loved the 'lil story/idea behind the pic...that would do a great fic.

for a moment the pic made me think of "peau d'âne, dunno why...and a fic by Chamaelirium where sarah wore constantly a cape to hide from jareth, lovely fic.
AWESOME. Great color and shadows on the fabric...it's got a very Brian Froud-esque tone.
The pic is lovely and the concept is rockin'! Great work!
The work of the shadow on Sarah's face is fabulous as is the choice to have the hair and cloak come out of the border.

Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Me and :iconkt4d: have this hangup about escaping borders. :) This one's kind of funky, though, when the margins aren't even, you know?

How funny that you mentioned Chamaelirium's fiction, as I was just about to go and nose about her gallery. :) Have any favorite stories by her?

she has got a lovely photo & handcraft stuff gallery here on DA and post her fics on FFnet, my fav is the saddly unfinished HE DOESN'T SEE ME...[link] I would be surprised if you hadn't read that one yet, she wrote a couple for Pika's chalenge "This Is The Day You Hoped Would Never Come" too. great writing skills.
Eek! I love her expression. The framing is just lovely ... and the floaty fabrics!!
My uncle worked on the Labyrinth :D I always get really excited when I see his name on the credits! :D He talked about David Bowie once or twice, but I didn't really get the depth of it when I was 4 :XD:

Bitchin! What did he do?

I love knowing that some warehouse is filled with goblin puppets. :)

Spoils of war, eh? That's an interesting concept, and not one I've seen done. It's strange that she would choose to surround herself (quite literally) with something of Jareth's, but then, I suppose, it is rather in keeping with her arrogant side. Such a macabre trophy, and yet the perfect thing to start a new war over.
