After pooh-poohing it immediately, I came around and started listening to Welcome To Night Vale, a pretty brilliant podcast. It's a mock local news radio show for a weird little town called Night Vale. It's like... if Prairie Home Companion were written by H.P. Lovecraft. If you like things that are creepy and funny and sometimes genuinely scary (but awesome), check it out. It's free on iTunes.
My favorite thing about the Night Vale fandom is how they (we, I guess) have interpreted the characters. You don't get many physical descriptors of most of them, and none at all of our host, Cecil Baldwin, which leaves his appearance 100% up to your imagination. I love how wildly different he looks according to whoever is drawing him, and I love that fans have just decided that he has a third eye and a lot of ever-morphing tattoos.
My Cecil is modeled on Danny Pudi, who is just the dreamiest, but appropriately geeky.
Damn, you guys, it's been a long time since I've drawn anything I thought was good enough to share. Slumps are the fuckin' worst.[ reblog on Tumblr ]
