EDIT: This is all in the comments, but so many people keep asking---I hit this owl as I was driving home at three a.m. He was sitting in the middle of the road, snacking on a mouse, and I didn't see him until he was right in front of me. If I had swerved, I'd have squished him, so I thought he went right between my tires and might have been okay, but when I went back to check, he was there in the road, looking so perfect. I couldn't just leave him there, so I took him home, hoping to sort of honor him by sharing how beautiful he is. My husband makes arrows, and we saved some of his feathers. I think that's a nice way to remember him.
Was he alive? I wouldn't think a wild raptor of that sort would allow itself to be handled by a human, short of heavy sedation or the rigor of the here-after.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
