Sandalwood + beeswax

BlueKnightMar recommended me this great Hermione/Snape fanfic called Pet Project. I'm only like a half-dozen chapters in, but it's pretty amazing. Among the best stories I've ever read, and it feels incredibly plausible, which you don't get too often.

The gist, so far, is that Hermione sees a lot of worth in Snape, and is desperately trying to launch a subtle campaign of appreciation. Of course, there's so much she doesn't know yet, so he can't see her efforts as anything but screwing with him.

This is from this wonderful part where there's a bit of an emergency, and Hermione is running around the freezing-cold school in her bare feet and nightgown, and Snape, just disgusted by her absentmindedness (we are led to believe), gives her his cloak before doing some damage control. Hermione sits in the infirmary with his cloak tucked under her feet, waiting for an injured Gryffindor, watching him, noticing things for the first time. The title is what his cloak apparently smells like (which is the first thing I wondered when she put it on).

I should be working on other stuff right now, but this story's been on my mind since I started it, and I had to get a little something out.
