Noodle plays the shamisen. Her kimono is patterned with Hokusai's Great Wave.

When I'm feeling blue, I like to listen to the one and only Incubus song that I don't hate: "Aqueous Transmission", a lovely, meditative piece with shamisen, eastern strings, a heartbeat rhythm and the sounds of night creatures softly chirping. That's what I hear when I look at this. That's how Noodle usually makes me feel.


Praise be to Jamie Hewlett for the borrow of his Gorillaz.

Spiffy as always - you emulate the style most effectivly :)

Might I ask about how you go about acheiving the patterning? is it just a flat pattern with some shading applied on a seperate layer, or some clever channels trickery?

I have NO idea how to answer that question. :D Ha ha ha! Dude, I use a program that was patented in 1989.

It was, like... cut and paste? With some shading?

:wow: This is through and through gorgeous! Harmonic colors, but with pink to give it a spiffy Noods feeling. And even though it's shaded cell-style, it looks very soft.

The only bad-ish critique I've got for you (which I came up with after staring and oggling her forever, being totally awestruck), is that I think you should have drawn her upper arm showing a little bit, behind her lower arm, inside the sleeve of the kimono. It slightly looks like it's floating in the air. Other than that, the anatomy and perspective is stunning. :love:
