Star man by lily-fox Star man by lily-fox
Yesterday (September 3) was Kit's birthday! Every year we try to make each other something really cool, and this year I made her a little star person. :)

Took me a few days. I didn't make a pattern or anything, but he wasn't too hard to put together. He's made with felt, polyfil and embroidery floss. I have all these great rainbow colors and I've always wanted to use them all together. If I'd thought about it, I would have weighted his feet with some beans or something.

He was hugely inspired by the incredibly talented Mr. and Mrs. Muju of Mujuworld and Lorena Alvarez's exquisite little felt dolls. I don't know how she gets her stitches so perfect, but I don't do a lot of embroidery, so maybe with some practice!

I love you, Kitteroo! At her birthday party, she asked me if, when I made this, it felt like a male or female. Our mom said, "It is a genderless being of universal love." I thought that was perfect. C:

I didn't make a pattern, unfortunately, I just winged it. But you can't go wrong with a freeform monster!

There are a couple stitches that look leafy. Which color were you talking about specifically?

I share birthday with your sister, could I get one too? Haha, like you hadn't heard that before!,really I just want to say how much I like it and that your gallery makes me feel trully inspired. I think this is the first comment I've made to you but not because I find your other posts dull or anything but because I think you might get tired of reading a thousand praising comments...and also because I turn everything I write into a rant :blushes::ashamed:
See you around :dummy:

Oh my gosh! I can't believe how neat and professional it looks! "It is a genderless being of universal love." *buddha pose* Hahaha, I love it! All of my toys don't have genders, they just ARE. I love all of the little details like the hand-stars. And the best thing is that we know it was made with LURVE  Also, I just HAVE to put my input into the whole only-child discussion. I have an older brother and I don't know what I would do without him! I was an accidental baby :giggle: (my mum thought she was just getting fat from too many almond croissants, and she didn't get how she only got fatter because she went to the gym everyday) but I hope I was a happy accident.

Oh wow, this is a lovely little doll. If I knew the first thing about embroidery, I'd want to try my hand at making something like this for myself. Kit is one lucky gal!

You know, I really don't know squat about embroidery, I just started doing fun stuff. Probably my technique is all screwy. You should try! You might come up with the coolest thing ever.

Hmm, you know, I might just pick up some embroidery floss and give it a shot sometime. Even if I majorly screw things up, it should still be fun to play around with.

This is beyond cool. I adore the colourful pattern behind star man's cute teardrop-y head. There's nothing like handmade gifts for your birthday. If only my siblings were craftily inclined...

hello! i was wondering, how do you call that technique of sewing those type of stitches? is it embroidery or something else?

There are a lot of different stitch types employed here, so I don't know which one you mean, but mostly, yeah, it all falls under embroidery.
